🇺🇸 🇧🇷 We are a bilingual Portuguese/English School 🇬🇧 🇵🇹
The Iris Global Mission School in Lisbon, now Harvest School of Missions, was established as a result of the Iris Global Base in Portugal. Initially, the first school was created to train the team already involved in local ministry, but it soon became clear that there was a need to open its to the body of Christ in the nations.
From Portugal we want to inspire and equip a new generation of missionaries who embody the values and spirit of Iris Global—devoted individuals who passionately love God and are committed to making disciples in alignment with the Great Commission.
Due to its unique political, demographic, and social conditions, Europe quickly became the continent most reached by the gospel. For hundreds of years, Europe was the geographic center of Christianity.
Even during the Enlightenment period, when new philosophies challenged the Christian faith, Europe stood firm. Europe's Christian heritage culminated in what is known as the Great Century of missions. From 1792 to 1914, Europeans took the gospel all over the world.
By the 20th century, the gospel had spread to every region of the globe. 100 years after the end of the Great Century, we believe it's Europe's time to become a key sender of missionaries once again.
Our vision with the Iris Global School of Missions in Lisbon is to awaken a new generation of missionaries who will be holy, transparent, with brave hearts, beating in the rhythm of their Bridegroom King Jesus and carrying His glory around the world. Passionate, fearless, surrendered, and those who know limitless love. Ready to roam the darkest places on earth to bring back the lost, the forgotten, the poor, and the broken. Jesus Himself came with an unceasing love for each individual and for the multitudes. Now we need to do the same: stop for one, but believe the multitudes.
Intimacy
Our first focus as a school is the constant search for intimacy with God. We understand that we can meet with God and experience intimacy, communication and fellowship with Him in His Presence if we share His love for justice. We not only do things for God, but we spend time with Him. All fruit comes from our intimacy with the Father. We love God above all things and live in constant communion with Him. We don't move in any direction unless the Presence of God is real in our lives.
Living in the Word and the Spirit
We want to create an environment where the Word and the Spirit meet. The focus of our school is on teaching the Word of God (logos) in a way that the Spirit can breathe and release specific revelations from God through the Word (Rhema).
We receive so that we may grow in knowledge and understanding in the mind, and through a revelation of the Spirit in our hearts, this may generate a true transformation. Our school is designed to facilitate an encounter with God in His Word and through His Spirit. Our movement was born out of encounters that people had with Jesus. These moments were based on the Word, revealed by the Spirit, and then lived out in a radical lifestyle of obedience and surrender. The school's ultimate goal is for students to grow in obedience to God's Word and not just in knowledge. We want to live and experience the word of God.
Live as family
Our school is very diverse with students from different backgrounds, ages, maturity, educational ability and biblical knowledge, all studying and sharing life together in the same classroom. We believe that our character is shaped as we walk in community, with a healthy lifestyle of fellowship, with humble hearts, being vulnerable and available to serve one another. We want to create good relationships with people and a collective understanding that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. We forgive quickly, love sacrificially, speak honestly, share generously, and serve each other's dreams in our community.
Live in the supernatural
We want to be totally dependent on God, even down to the smallest details; we need and hope for miracles of all kinds to sustain us and confirm the Gospel in our ministry. We are constantly encouraged to say great prayers and put ourselves in situations that need God's intervention. We are led by the Spirit and walk by faith rather than by what we see. Even in our School, our desire is to walk daily in search of the supernatural of God and pray constantly for daily miracles.
We are fruits of our worship and abiding in God
The mission on this earth is temporary; the mission of worshipping God is eternal. As long as we exist, our lives will be a constant expression of worship.
We are called to manifest the presence of God
We are called to cultivate and bring God's Presence to the world by raising an altar of worship wherever He takes us.
Our lives are the result of radical obedience
In our hearts there is no room for a “no”. We say yes to God about all that He commands us, trusting that He is the owner of the mission and that, with Him and in Him, we can do all things.
We are moved by a compassion that moves the heart of God
A compassionate heart breeds empathy and moves God's heart. We are moved by the Father's heart and see the world from the perspective of this true love.
Our call is irrevocable
We believe that each one of us was created as a piece of a big puzzle, in which everyone has an important and essential role for us to understand the whole picture. We are called to establish the Kingdom of God on earth, and discovering this call leads us to a life of purpose; no matter how different what God has given us, we believe and encourage one another to fully live out their respective callings.
We are creative because we are children of a creative God
We are creative because we are children of a creative God. We live in a constant creative atmosphere as we connect with the Holy Spirit constantly.
We honor each other as a family
We believe that the Kingdom of God is a big family and that when we walk in unity, the world will know the Father.
We are children of a good father
We walk as children who know they have a good Father, and with the authority of ambassadors of His Kingdom here on earth.
We prioritize generosity
We walk in prosperity and trust that there will always be enough for Kingdom purposes and to give generously. As we sow, we see the fruits of supernatural provision.
The supernatural is our natural
We walk in what we don't see, believing that we have a God who works in an extraordinary way. We live God's supernatural as if it were our natural.
We were transformed to transform
As long as we abide in Jesus, we are constant in the character of Christ. As a family, we are willing to nurture one another and cultivate an atmosphere of integrity and constancy, helping one another to live the fullness of this character.
We embrace joy on the journey
The joy of the Lord far outweighs our suffering! In Jesus we have our motivation, reward, and spiritual weapon. In His Presence there is fullness of joy, and, like Paul, we testify that even in the midst of our troubles, our joy is not limited (2 Corinthians 7:4). Joy is our strength and energy, without which we die. We are always grateful and happy to share in the Lord's work. The fullness of joy comes from His presence regardless of our circumstances.
We never say “no” to Jesus
We hear God's voice and respond quickly with radical obedience and courage. Our lifestyle allows us to always have a big "Yes!" in our hearts for Jesus, even if it means we need to embrace suffering as a result.
We reap the fruits of justice, even in suffering
As missionaries, we understand the value of suffering in the Christian life. Learning to love requires suffering for the sake of justice. Discipline and trials produce holiness in us, without which we will neither see the face of God nor share in His glory. Like Paul, we rejoice in our weaknesses, for when we are weak, we are strong. Under great pressure we learn to trust God, who raises the dead (2 Corinthians 1:9). We learn to embrace suffering with joy. This is our secret weapon.
Stop for the one, believe for the multitude
We look for revival among the broken and the lowly, and we start at the bottom with ministry to the poor. We believe that God chooses the weak and despised things of the world to confuse the proud, demonstrating His own strength and wisdom. Our leadership is even more humble. We love and value others. We give our time and attention. We love the poor and the broken, the one who cannot repay our kindness. We fight for justice with compassion.
